Total is first Tall Ships sponsor

Energy company Total E&P Norge is the first company to enter into an agreement as main sponsor for The Tall Ships Races 2018 Stavanger.

Total has been a main sponsor in all previous Tall Ships events in Stavanger, and will start participating as soon as the project work starts this year and until the Tall Ships fleet leaves Vågen in Stavanger on Sunday, 29 July 2018.

“As a proud partner, we can help promote the maritime culture and the unique educational opportunity that the regatta offers for young people. We are excited to see these special ships return to the city,” says communications manager Leif Harald Halvorsen in Total.

The Tall Ships Races 2018 Stavanger are being organised by the City of Stavanger, in cooperation with the Port of Stavanger and a number of public and private players. The event will take place from 26 – 29 July 2018.

“It is very positive that Total has already signed up once again as main sponsor for The Tall Ships Races. This demonstrates that businesses in the region support the two-year project that will conclude with the sailing ship festival in Vågen in July 2018. This is a project that will give our young people the opportunity to sail these ships, and it will be a major cultural event for the entire region,” says Mayor Christine Sagen Helgø.

Stavanger has previously been a host port in 1997, 2004 and 2011. As many as 450 000 people participated at the event in 2011.

The Tall Ships Races are international sailing regattas that aim to develop and educate young people between the ages of 15-25 through sail training, regardless of nationality, culture, religion, gender or social background.
