The region’s largest family and cultural event

Did you know that The Tall Ships Races is primarily an event for youth?

The aim of the races is to develop end educate young people aged 15-25 years through the sail training experience, regardless of nationality, culture, religion, gender or social background, as the organising charity Sail Training International (STI) states. To participate in the race stages, at least half the crew of each vessel has to be within this age group.

The international fleet will dock along the quays of Stavanger by Thursday 26 July 2018, marking the start of the festival for the crews, city residents and visitors . When the tall ships last came in Stavanger in 2011, nearly 450,000 people took part in celebrating our maritime traditions and history over the four days festival.

The festival is free for all attending.
