Teaming up for the tall ships

The Port of Stavanger and Stavanger Municipality team up for The Tall Ships Races.

The Port of Stavanger (Stavangerregionen Havn IKS) is collaborating with Stavanger Municipality in arranging The Tall Ships Races 2018 Stavanger.

The agreement, which was recently signed, makes the port company a co-organiser of the event. They will participate in the planning and implementation of the event, and make available a half kilometre stretch of quayside in the centre of Stavanger for the visiting ships.

“The Tall Ships event brings together people from all over the region and is a great opportunity for us to showcase our port. At the same time, the Tall Ships Races gives us an opportunity to provide today’s youth an insight into the maritime traditions of the region. We are pleased to be able to arrange this in Stavanger once again”, said Port Director, Merete Eik.

For the municipality, it has been important to have a cooperation agreement in place, for the Tall Ships project, with the port.

“The port is an important partner, and it’s great that they provide staff, resources and expertise once again. This is of invaluable value to our event”, says Project Manager, Knud Helge Robberstad.

The Port of Stavanger will take care of the maritime activities related to the event and all port-related requirements for the visiting sailing ships.

The Port of Stavanger is owned by the municipalities of Stavanger, Sola, Randaberg and Rennesøy.
